After an overwhelming positive response to the first Bitch’s Brew - a fast-paced, funky round-robin style exhibition featuring spoken word by local poets Abiyah, Murray, Ophelia, and Yvette Nepper hosted by Kathy Y. Wilson and deejay’d by Apryl Reign at the Kennedy Heights Art Center - the ladies of The Brew have scheduled an encore performance for Friday, November 18, 2011 at The Greenwich (2442 Gilbert Road | Cincinnati, OH) from 9pm to midnight.
The four women poets, host, and DJ convening for The Bitch’s Brew do not shrink from or become enraged by the word bitch; in fact, among them it may be a term of endearment or a secret calling card. With poems spanning subject matter as diverse as their styles, these poetesses fearlessly dish out pieces of their mind flavored generously by the unique life experiences each has interwoven with their artistry. When punctuated by the meticulously crafted musical blends of a world-class DJ and accented with the host’s witty brand of humor, the show flows into poetic, artistically warped snapshot of six women for whom the word “bitch” may well be a compliment. Through words and music, the audience is transported to the very moments that shaped and defined the women before them, allowing them not only a voyeuristic peek into the performers’ psyches but a glimpse into their own as well.
